Purrfections debut new uniforms at soccer game

The dance team recently made an appearance at a boys’ soccer game against Heritage and performed a kick routine in order to kickstart the season.

Assistant Coach Stephanie Shaw said she thought the soccer field would be an obstacle she knew the girls would overcome.

“This was the first soccer game for some girls and dancing in grass — in sneakers — is a complete 180 from dancing on a basketball court in jazz shoes,” Shaw said. “I was not worried but curious to see how they would adapt. They did fabulous.”

The performance marked the team’s first with their new uniforms, which they also wore throughout the school day.

“I really like the new uniforms,” said Raven Morgan, freshman and JV dancer. “I kind of didn’t like the old ones.”

Despite the long day, the dancers maintained their enthusiasm, according to Shaw.

“The girls keep up the energy throughout the whole day,” Shaw said. “Before their performance, they are excited and when they are done, they keep cheering on our Wildcats. They add that extra pep.”

Shaw also called the performance a success.

“The girls have been prepared for weeks and over-exceeded my expectations with their performances,” Shaw said. “They are true athletes.”
