Two benches at the new concession stand and eight round tables have been added to the pavilion to address issues with a lack of seating due to the increase of students eating lunch during Power Hour A.

“What we do is dedicate a certain amount of money each year to put into seating, since it seems that every year we need more seating,” assistant principal Catherine Halbuer said. “But what we observed this year was that all the kids went to the first lunch, and the second lunch was empty. It seemed a majority of department teacher hours and clubs decided to meet Power Hour B, so everybody was at lunch Power Hour A.”

These tables and seating were assembled by parent volunteers and installed 10 days ago.

“I put a request out for parent volunteers, and they came in and put them together,” Halbuer said.

Freshman Francis Lewandowski said he likes the new seating.

“I appreciate that the school was thoughtful enough to think of us,” Francis said. “The tables will certainly help the overcrowding of the pavilion.”

Freshman Aashish Adireddy however, said she found the change rather insignificant.

“I didn’t even notice,” he said.
