Administration has ordered a new sound system for the gym following damage to the current speakers.
According to Assistant Principal Catherine Halbuer, the project’s budget is approximately $11,500, and the system is expected to be replaced as soon as the parts arrive. The order was made August 9. The district agreed to replace the speakers after the speaker’s volume was turned too high and the speakers were blown out, resulting in poor audio quality and scratching. The new sound system will be moved into a smaller box mounted onto the gym wall, similar to the box in the cafeteria, and will be set so the volume cannot be changed.
“This will be like the second or third time since I’ve been here [the speakers] are being replaced,” Halbuer said. “[However, before], they’ve only been replacing the speakers. [Now], we’ve got a new plan in place, so hopefully this will all work out.”
Physical education teacher Jenny Pazderak said the new speakers would be beneficial in many school events.
“[They would be helpful] during sport programs when they announce the teams or when [music is needed] for performances by the dance or cheer team,” Pazderak said. “[They could also be used] during open house or informational meetings.”
