NEHS inducts new members
The National English Honor Society inducted 14 new members during a ceremony held Oct. 15. The club also recognized various older members who were inducted last year, according to club President Nicolas Etrick.
“The induction itself went very well,” Etrick said. “Mrs. [Carrie] Glass said a few inspirational words, including some quotes from Henry David Thoreau and Edgar Allen Poe, and I conducted the ceremony.”
Inductee Kaitlin Inganna said she joined NEHS to get more involved in school activities and because it will help in her admission to college.
“I joined the club because it would look good on a college application,” Inganna said. “It also will help me out in English class because that’s not my best subject, and the more I work with it the better I’ll get at it.”
Currently the club is planning a Halloween Edgar Allen “POE-try” Party with food, drinks, scary movies, creepy music and poetry.
“We plan to do a lot this year,” Etrick said. “We are going to be doing pen pals, run the spelling bee, fund-raisers, Valentine’s Day cards/poems, and a lot more. It should be an interesting year filled with fun and educational activities.”
