National Honor Society inducts new members
The National Honor Society’s induction ceremony held Oct.1 was a success, according to club sponsor Melissa Henderson.
“We had members of orchestra who are also members of NHS perform at the beginning of the ceremony, which was fabulous,” Henderson said.
There were 106 students inducted at the ceremony, meaning NHS has a total number of 188 members. According to club President Ilana Krause, the greater amount of members predicts more success for the club.
“Since there are so many of us [members], more people will get involved,” Krause said, “and we will be able to do more projects and have a greater impact on the community.”
The ceremony started with a brief introduction by Henderson talking about what NHS stood for. Then the inductees went through an NHS candle lighting ceremony, and lastly Principal Rick Fleming gave a closing speech.
“The ceremony was very formal,” inductee Ashley Pekmezian said. “I’m glad I got the opportunity to become a part of such a great club that will help me in my future.”
