Mu Alpha Theta team places at competition

The Mu Alpha Team, consisting of 41 students, won various awards at a competition at Oviedo High School on Feb. 4.

For the individual round, eighth-grader Nicholas S. placed 12th out of 41 Algebra I students. In Precalculus, freshman Caleb Bryant placed 14th out of 92 students.

The Algebra I team finished fourth out of 11 teams, and the Calculus team placed fifth out of 22 teams. Overall, West Shore placed seventh out of 31 schools.

“It’s pretty nifty, though I thought I got 15 out of 120, but then my friend was like, ‘LOL, you got a five,’”Precalculus team member Rachel Poole, a sophomore, said.

“I was really excited,” said freshman Precalculus team member Caleb Bryant after receiving his trophy for placing in the individual round. “I thought it was pretty cool to place because there’s a lot of competition. Later, my family went to Moo’s to celebrate.”
