Monteverde shuts out boys’ soccer

The boys’ varsity soccer team fell to MonteVerde Academy 5-0 in an exhibition game Friday. . Since the beginning of 2020, MonteVerde, sports academy, has won all of its games.

“We played really bad pretty bad in my opinion, and we weren’t able to play our game due to their skill level compared to ours,” Cannon Hester (9) said. “They were by far the best team we’ve played this year. I’m glad that we were exposed to it and definitely can use it as a learning experience.”

Brock Ehmer (10) said MonteVerde’s offense was too much for the Wildcats.

“It was hard to play our game with a team of that caliber because we had to play defense so much,” he said.

Mateo Villanueva (9) said the team will benefit from playing so skilled an opponent.

“Even though we did not win, we still got better as a whole while facing that strong of an opponent,” he said.

Christian Graham (9) said MonteVerde was one step throughout the game.

“Whenever we tried to do something, they were right there to shut it down,” he said. “I think the team needs to be faster. We can improve by playing better defense and scoring.”
