The Roar

  • Semester exams will be given Dec. 18-21.

  • Seniors must turn in their community service hours before Winter Break in order to fulfill the Bright Futures scholarship requirement.

  • Band, chorus and orchestra group photos will be taken Jan. 9 throughout the school day.

Mathcounts team wins district championship

Eighth-grader Esha Bansal took the individual championship as the West Shore Mathcounts team successfully defended its district championship Saturday, becoming the first team in school history to win back-to-back titles. Eighth-grader Connor Courtney placed fourth best in the competition which was held at the school board offices in Viera.

Hunter Schwartz, Shelley Mitchell will join Bansal and Connor to represent the school in the state championship next month.

Other members of the team are Caleb Bryant, Srimayi Tenali, Chris Melchiori and Naeem Motlagh.

Senior Colin Chan and Karl Krehbiel along with freshmen Ian Chan, Lexie Krehbiel and Clay Uhing coached the team along with math teacher Steve Thomas.
