MATHCOUNTS team headed to state

After its success at a district championship, the MATHCOUNTS team consisting of its top four members will represent West Shore and its district in the state competition at the Doubletree Hotel at the entrance to Universal Orlando on March 30. MATHCOUNTS is a national enrichment, club and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement through grassroots involvement in every U.S. state and territory.

The team consists of eighth-grader Srimayi T. in first place, eighth-grader Hunter S. in second place, seventh-grader Nick S. in third place and eighth-grader Micah H. in seventh place.

“I’m hoping for another great performance,” said Math teacher and team sponsor Steve Thomas said. “The team is working very hard to do well at the state competition.”
