The Key Club has brought the annual Valentine carnation sSale back to campus this week.

Carnations will be distributed by Key Club volunteers on Valentine’s Day before first period, according to senior club Vice President Olivia Shary.

“I think it’s a really fun way to get people engaged in the school,” Shary said. “It’s really nice, when you pass the carnations out, you get to see how happy people are.”

Senior treasurer Sasha Girard said she thinks it is a great way for students to connect.

“It is really exciting on Valentine’s Day, in first period you get to see who got carnations,” Girard said.

The carnations are purchased from Buds & Roses Floral Design, a local business of Melbourne.

“Yesterday, we had about 40 [orders in total], but it has definitely changed,” Shary said.

Each carnation costs $2, and the money goes to an organization called Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.

“It’s going to help children in Palestine get medical needs,” senior club president Hana Saleh said. “I’ve been seeing a lot of things on social media about Palestine and the troubles that are going on there, so I really wanted to help.”
