Senior Lydia Kline led the Lady Wildcats with 15 points.

Senior Lydia Kline scored 15 points to lead the girls’  varsity basketball team to a 42-40 victory against Harmony High School on the Lady Longhorns’ Senior Night on Jan. 22. The Lady Wildcats won 11 of their last 12 games and had an eight-game winning streak, finishing the regular season at 15-6.

“Despite illnesses on the team, we still pulled through with a big win,” Kline said. “This game definitely will propel us into our district game against Cocoa. Fortunately we will have enough time to recover and have our team back at full force for districts.”

Junior Gillian Foster was the game’s second leading scorer with 12 points and nine rebounds, while senior Kaitlin Ingana had 6 points and five rebounds. With only eight players at full strength, the Lady Wildcats managed to stay out of foul trouble and win the game.

“The girls really stepped it up and played their hearts out,” Coach Jeff Smith said. “Our whole team refused to back down from the challenge. They fought until the end and never gave up.”
