Lacrosse teams celebrate seniors

Senior Dillion Thompson, sophomore Ian Chan and freshman Grant Fountaine each scored, but boys’ lacrosse team fell to Melbourne Central Catholic 18-3 as it and the girls’ team celebrated Senior Night on Tuesday. Throughout the game, seniors on both teams were announced to the crowd. Before  varsity game started, the girls’ seniors were introduced and escorted by parents carrying flowers. Later during halftime, the senior boys were introduced and handed flowers as well.

“Senior night was a blast,” sophomore Christine Sherry said. “It was a great way to recognize all of the players, and they will be missed,” she said.

Sophomore David Almedia also enjoyed the festivities.

“It was great to see the seniors recognized and, despite the loss, they still put in a lot of effort,” he said.

But sophomore Sierra Purden said the senior girls should have received more recognition.

“The girls deserved much more respect than they got, just because the boys had a game doesn’t make the girls less important,” she said.

The boys next play at Viera High School at 7 p.m. Thursday.
