Lacrosse girls prep for upcoming season

While their season doesn’t officially start until January, members of the girls’ varsity lacrosse team already have begun to prepare.

“I have been running almost every night and will go to the conditioning sessions whenever I can to get in shape for lacrosse this year,” junior Kayley Lew said.

Those sessions are held after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 5 p.m., and also on Fridays at 7 a.m.

“There is always room for improvement for every girl who has played or who wants to join,” Lew said. “So everyone should start working on stick work and just get into good shape so that by time the season starts, we’ll be able to make it to the top.”

Last year, the Lady Wildcats finished 4-5-0 and made it through to districts where they defeated Melbourne Central Catholic in the first round. Later, a 13-12 district playoff loss to Viera High ended their season.

“I live by no expectations, no disappointments, but I’m really hoping that us girls can make it to districts again and win,” Lew said. “I just really hope to have a good season overall and have a strong team.”
