Key Club to volunteer at pancake breakfast

The Key Club will play host to its annual pancake breakfast at the Strawberry Festival on March 17 from 6 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. General admission to the festival is free, but the proceeds from the breakfast will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.

“I’ve gone to the Strawberry Festival two years in a row,” sophomore Rhianna Stone said. “I thought it was fun, and I’m glad that the money goes toward charities.”

Key Club members are encouraged to volunteer to set up, cook and serve the breakfast. Volunteer hours will be granted to those who participate.

“I think it’s a great way for Key Club to get exposed to the community,” club sponsor Sabrina Nobili said. “It gives us a chance to help Kiwanis in return for all of the help they’ve given us, and it’s also fun for the Key Club members.”

The 2012 Strawberry Festival will mark Key Club’s third year of participating in the breakfast.

“I volunteered last year, and it was a really easy way to get hours,” sophomore Jenna Winter said. “Plus, volunteers get free pancakes.”

The festival will take place at the Brevard Community College pavilion off of Wickham Road in Melbourne.
