Kanye changes his name to Ye

Rapper Kanye West has legally changed his name to Ye, citing “personal reasons” and “biblical references.” Kanye began referring to himself as Ye in 2018 upon release of an album by the same name.

“I don’t know how to feel about the change,” freshman Antonio Rodrigues said. “I guess he was referencing the Bible.”

Ye has always been a polarizing artist who makes spontaneous and controversial decisions. Actions such as this has freshman Aiden Dabbs questioning the artist’s credibility.

“He is mentally unstable, and not making great decisions,” Dabbs said.

Ye has a history of changing his persona following record releases. In 2016 Ye referred to himself as Pablo, for his record “The Life of Pablo.”

“I remember how he called himself Yeezus and Pablo but he didn’t actually change his name legally,” Rodriguez said.
