JV cheer prepares for season-opener

As the JV basketball season approaches, the JV cheer team practices stunts in order to prepare.

“We doing preps and shoulder sits,” Jadyen R. said. ” Have two stunt groups and five partnered groups for shoulder sits.”

The girls have improved there stunts.

“Well in the beginning of the season, there was a lot of new girls that weren’t really sure on how to stunt, but now they know how everything goes,” Jadyen R. said. “We’re improving a lot and we have like really good preps and a bunch of good shoulder sits.”

The news girls are helping the team.

‘”There’s a lot more girls on JV, basically double the size than last year,” Jadyen R. said.

The girls also have cheers to go along with these stunts.

“We are doing ‘WIL’ and we also have a stunt with the cheer ‘In 2020’,” Jadyen R. said.

Some of the girls noticed a difference from this year to last year.

“Last year we didn’t have a lot of freedom during stunting,” Jadyen R. said. “We were mostly only allowed to do thigh stands, and we didn’t really get taught that well on how to do preps, so we never got to do them. And I feel that this year we have a lot more skills that were taught to us, and we have a lot more freedom.”

Also, new member Gracie S. learned new skills.

” I learned my stunts really good,” Gracie said. “I had no idea on how to stunt but know I know. I learned tightness and I learned skill.”

The first game is scheduled for Monday and the girls plan to do the cheer ‘WIL’
