The junior varsity cheer team wrapped up its middle-school season at the boys’ and girls’ basketball games on Oct. 10.

“The middle-school season went really good,” Captain Jadyen Rutherford (8) said. “We pushed through and tried our best. We had a lot of new seventh-graders and one new eighth-grader. They all caught on really quickly, and it was a good season for everyone.”

The middle school season helped the girls prepare for the upcoming junior varsity season.

“All the girls know the cheers we do in the bleaches,” Rutherford said. “I can call whatever cheer and they’ll know what to do. And they also know the way of the game. There’s a lot of things that happened that they probably didn’t know and these games showed them what to do.

The games have helped grow relationships with all the girls.

“This season are team built great relationships with each other,” Ashley Grant (8) said. “I’m a lot closer with these new girls than I was last year.”

The girls are planning events in the near future.

“We are planning team bonding,” Rutherford said. “Cami [Newton (7)] have been planning a few things.”
