IHB Breakers shut out Palm Bay

In Palm Bay at Palm Regional Park’s soccer fields, the Indian Harbour Beach Breakers U16 girls’ soccer team beat Palm Bay 11-0 Saturday.

By the third-quarter water break, the Palm Bay team surrendered to Indian Harbor in defeat. Forwards Emily Wirth, Macy Hurst and Morgan Walker each scored and West Shore freshman Katherine Avrakotos played a role in assisting the goals. The Indian Harbour team had to play with 10 players because the Palm Bay team only showed up with 10.

“Our whole team finally all came to together but this was the one time that the other team was lacking in numbers,” Avrakotos said.

“The Palm Bay team was playing a little bit rougher than we are used to, but we pushed back and played as a unit,” said Hurst, a West Shore freshman.

Coach Pete Gerowsaid the girls have improved, particularly in that many are new to the team and have had to get used to playing with each other.

“I think they have finally focused on commitment to the team,” he said.
