Holocaust reflection contest accepting entries

The Holocaust Reflection Contest is open to all middle and high school students in the state of Florida in the 2014-2015 school year. Entries are due Feb. 1

“I think I is very important for people to participate,” senior Jessica Best said. “It’s important that we remember what happened during the Holocaust so that it doesn’t happen again. I wish I could do it this year, but I’m so busy with Senior Project and other school work that I don’t have time.”

In order to participate, students must begin with watching or reading Holocaust survivors’ testimonials. Then they must select a testimonial or historical reference that inspires them.

“It’s easily forgotten what the people of the holocaust went through,” junior Jeanine Widere said. “I don’t know how they could ever have survived that.”

Categories to enter include writing, visual art and film.

A grand total of six prizes will be given out. One in each of the three categories listed above for both high school and middle school.
