Gordy’s time in the gym might have come to an end, in the afternoon session at least, after the property manager saw Gordy at the gym last week and told Coach Spero Tshontikidis the dog would not be permitted in the facility.

“I don’t see much reason for it,” junior Trey Plyler said. “The only reason I can think of is that sometimes Gordy pees on the floor, but the mats are there and Spero cleans it up anyways.”

Tshontikidis said he understands from a business standpoint because some dogs are dangerous and the manager could be liable for dog bites. However, this may not be the end of Gordy in the gym, the coach plans to get him registered as a therapy dog for his post-traumatic stress disorder he acquired while on active duty as part of Special Forces.

“My plan all along since we got him was to get him certified as a therapy dog,” Tshontikidis said. “Then I would be allowed to take him where ever, and I’m qualified because of my post-traumatic stress.”

For now, Gordy comes in the morning and stays home in the afternoon until Tshontikidis gets him certified.
