Girls’ varsity basketball team practices during offseason

The girls’ varsity basketball team is preparing for next season by attending various clinics and open gyms.

Junior Jaylynn Jeter said she’ll attend a summer tournament with the team as a way to improve.

“I plan on doing the summer league our coach signed us up for because I see it as a way to know how our future competitors play and how we as a team will function against other teams,” Jeter said.

Another way the team plans to improve is by holding several open gyms which focus on the team’s skills.

“I think the practices and open gyms this summer will prepare us for the next season because it will give us a chance to work as a team with new upcoming players. We can all work on our strengths and weaknesses, this way we will be ready for next season rather than being out of shape,” Jeter said.

Sophomore Jalaya King said she believes the team will make significant improvements during the offseason.

“I think that our team practices will give us a chance to build better relationships and improve for next season,” King said. “We have signed up for a summer league where we can prepare for next season after seeing what our competition will look like.”
