Junior Diana Sheedy kicked off  a scoring streak with a header followed by goals from seniors Kaitlyn Forry and Rae Antenucci, junior Amanda Farthing and freshman Ashley Pekmezian as the Lady Wildcats beat Satellite 5-1 for the Class 2A District championship Friday.

“The first half was awesome, but the second was outstanding with the defense doing an amazing job,” head coach Tony Del La Hoz said.

The game’s outcome seemed predetermined with the Lady Wildcats leading by 4 at half time.

“I think we won because we outplayed them both mentally and physically, also by playing possession and working together as family and a team,” Antenucci said.

Del La Hoz expressed satisfaction with the team’s balanced performance.

“The offense wins games, but the defense wins championships,” he said.
