Girls’ soccer shuts out Astronaut 8-0
January 29, 2019
Junior midfielder Maci Pekmezian scored seven goals and eighth-grader Bree E. added another to lead the Lady Wildcats past Astronaut 8-0 in district play Thursday night.
Pekmezian said she was ecstatic about the win. “I know I put my best effort and it paid off,” she said. “They’re a good team but I feel we were just better.”
Sophomore midfielder Palma Russo said she didn’t expect any less in their performance.
“We’ve worked hard as a team,” Russo said. “I feel we really deserved this win.”
Russo said Astronaut is a formidable team but didn’t play its best game.
“They could’ve done better if they tried,” she said. “Not better than us, though.”
