Girls’ soccer advances to district finals
The girls’ varsity soccer team has advanced to district finals after defeating Edgewood 2-0 Wednesday night. Scoring for the Lady Wildcats was senior Jenna Forry along with junior Kaitlin Inganna.
The Lady Wildcats will next face the Cocoa Beach Minutemen Friday night at Melbourne Central Catholic. Since the girls have advanced to district finals they are automatically eligible to play in regional quarterfinals.
“If we win we get a home game and we play the lower seed of another district, which is an advantage for us,” senior Jenna Forry said.
In recent years, the Lady Wildcats have progressed to the first round of regionals. They had trouble advancing to the semi-finals. In 2010, the girls’ moved on to the semi-finals where they lost.
“The whole team has the right mindset for Friday nights game,” senior Sarah Brusca said. “If we win we will most likely play Trinity Prep in the first round of regionals which is really good because we beat them 3-1 during the regular season.”
