Girls’ lacrosse wins one, loses one

The girls’ varsity lacrosse team beat Merritt Island 18-9 Wednesday in an intense game.

“It started pouring down rain when we were warming up,” sophomore Kayley Lew said. “We started dancing to the warm-up music, which we never do, and our energy was high. It was like we were in a movie when we were playing.”

“The girls played well on offense, and every time a Merritt Island player would try to score our defense was there to stop them,” sophomore Lindsay Gorham said.

The next day the JV team, who played Merritt Island again, was not as fortunate.

“We only had 10 girls and two subs for that game,” Gorham said. “That’s not an excuse, but we had to manage having girls in the whole game, which we aren’t used to, and we got tired easily.”
