Girls’ lacrosse dismantles Viera

After losing to Merritt Island in double-overtime Thursday, the girls’ lacrosse team took out its frustration against Viera on Friday, pounding the Hawks 15-3.

“I think the team had a really strong game Friday. We all worked together well,” sophomore Angela Ahern said. “Our offense was patient and our defense held together strong.”

The team knew it had to step it up after losing its first game of the season Thursday.

“I think the team played really well and it was a defining moment for our team, “ sophomore Kaitlin Inganna said. “After our loss against Merritt Island the night before, we all had something to prove when we stepped out onto the field, and we did it. I couldn’t be prouder of our team.”

Inganna added that the team still has room for growth.

“The team could still improve in a few ways, but I think the biggest would be trusting each other,” she said. “Our team doesn’t always pass the ball or listen to each other; instead they’ll take it to the goal themselves. I know I’m guilty of it too, but that is something we as a team can definitely improve on. Defense too, sometimes we don’t trust each other, and two people end up covering the same person. It can be fixed, and were trusting eachother more with every game.”
