Girls’ basketball hits the gym with eye toward next season

The girls’ basketball team has been practicing in the offseason in preparation for next season in hopes of achieving a better record. After finishing 12-12, the team looks forward to improving.

“I think last year’s season was a really good season because we won half our games,” Junior Jaylynn Jeter said. “I think some people may think we may lose the games that we won previously, but we are improving our confidence and skills.”

Coach Hugh Bain, has been hosting open gyms for the players in the offseason. Through these sessions, the team is building better camaraderie.

“I feel we are starting to increase our team bonding with new players,” Jeter said. “By establishing this relationship early, we can focus on using all our individual strengths together as a team.”

After the loss of last year’s seniors, the team will have to adjust to lineups and relationships.

“We are looking forward to next season and building better chemistry in our team,” eighth-grader Evelyn H. said. “In our open gyms we play with the whole program so we are able to play with everyone, regardless of what team they will be on.”
