Girls advance in soccer State Cup

As the girls’ club soccer season nears its end, State Cup begins. State cup is a statewide tournament that all club teams participate in.

During the weekend, juniors Fallon Klenotich and Sydney Zamorano played in State Cup at Palm Coast on Saturday tying the game 1-1 and on Sunday winning 3-1.

“I thought we were going to come out with wins for both games, but it seemed as if in the game on Saturday we just weren’t working as hard as we usually do,” Klenotich said. “We’ve been training all year for this and knew exactly what we wanted so when we came in first place for our group in State Cup it was really exciting.”

Zamorano scored a goal in the Sunday game.

“I didn’t expect to score,” Zamorano said. “It’s great to know I helped the team get a win in our last group stage game.”

The team’s next game is in Auburndale at 8 a.m. on May 6.
