Girls’ basketball fundraiser falls short

The girls’ basketball fell short of its goal, bringing in $150 at the car wash fundraiser on April 30.

“We were trying to raise money so that we can participate in summer league this year,” sophomore Brooke Robertson said.

Because the team needs $350 to participate, it plans to schedule another car wash.

“We normally make at least $300 by the McDonalds in Viera so it’s weird that we couldn’t even get $200,” Coach Dave D’Esposito said.

With only a few weeks until summer league starts, the team will need to raise $200 more.

“Hopefully next time will be better and we won’t have to make the girls’ parents pay for them to play,” D’Esposito said.
