Senior wins Bright House Scholarship
Senior Ilana Krause won the Future Leaders Scholarship, an award designed to recognize high school seniors in good standing in the Bright house Networks service area for their contributions to their school and their community.
“I applied to it with an essay, application form, a teacher recommendation letter and a community leader recommendation letter.” Krause said.
Krause was one of the two students who were chosen for the scholarship.
“If I won I would receive a laptop, software, and carrying case,” Krause said. “And the Bright House administrators locally came to West Shore to present it to me.”
Before winning the award Krause was continuously looking for a new laptop to take to college. She says she is glad that there is one less thing to buy for college because it is getting expensive.
“I am really humbled by receiving the scholarship,” Krause said. “And excited to see how my community service is being recognized as instrumental within the community.”
