Freshman Jared Hayes ran a personal best in the 800-meter run at the regional track meet at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miami on April 22. Hayes finished the event in 1 minute, 59.6 seconds.

“When they announced it on the speakers, I officially knew I had beat my goal of under 2 [minutes],” Hayes said. “At that moment I was very excited and felt incredible that I joined two of the only freshman in the state of Florida to accomplish that feat this season.”

While Hayes didn’t qualify for the state track meet in Jacksonville, but he remained philosophical about his accomplishments.

“It was a very successful season, and it couldn’t have ended better,” Hayes said.
