Seniors Kate Crowley, Brian Hamilton, Ben Heuser and Donald Issit all have received the National Merit Scholarship. Only the top juniors in the nation receive this recognition and have the opportunity to be chosen as a finalist for a $2,500 scholarship.

“It’s quite an accomplishment, and those four students should be extremely proud of themselves,” guidance counselor Deana Dearmin said. “They’ve worked hard.”

To be eligible students are required to achieve a certain standard on the PSAT in their junior year in order to achieve the award, with the standard changing every year.

“Take the PSAT, seriously because it doesn’t just help with the SAT,” senior, Kate Crowely, said as advice to future juniors. ” It helps with a lot more.”
