Over the course of this year, First Priority has seen a significant increase in attendance as the club has become more popular.
“I’ve been attending First Priority since eighth grade, and I’ve never seen so many people interested in it, it’s incredible,” sophomore Sophie Miles said.
First Priority is a student-led Christian club that aims to create a welcoming space for students to discuss faith. The attendance has grown so much that the weekly meetings had to be moved from club sponsor Linda Foster’s room to the gym to accommodate everyone.
“We started around 30ish [people] in August, and we still have a huge number on non-invite week meetings, like 80 to 90 people,” senior and club leader Carter Newlin said. “The invite weeks have been up to almost 150.”
These “invite weeks” occur once a month and are designed to encourage club members to invite their friends to join.
“I can’t wait to see how the club grows over the next few months, even years when I’m a senior,” Miles said. “I love it and I hope others will see what a great club it is.”
First Priority’s next meeting will be held Thursday, Feb. 6 during Power Hour in the gym.
