FCS opens up devotional floor
Devotionals held at Fellowship of Christian Students meetings have become more open to give other members a chance to lead testimonies and lessons.
“Usually, Melinda [Silaghi] does our devotionals but we have a sign-up sheet now so that anyone can sign up to lead on any given FCS day,” FCS officer Dulcy Olson said. ” I gave one myself, and I have to say that it was a really good experience. I enjoyed giving my perspective on scriptures and sharing with everyone. Others have given their devotionals, too, and I’ve really enjoyed those as well. I’m really glad we’ve started doing this.”
Joy Oni, another FCS officer agrees.
“I’ve signed up to do one, and I’m already planning it,” she said. “I’ve never really given a devotional before so I’m a little nervous, but I think it’ll be fun. Hearing everyone else give theirs and seeing all the different ways people go about it has been really fun, and it’s so much more personal when everyone gets a chance. It’s like we’re all together and everyone’s views matter. There’s not just one person whose take on the Bible speaks for all of us. We all get to contribute to the devotionals.
The goal is to make the club more interactive.
“I really hope more people sign up to do them,” Olson said. “Doing a devotional yourself really gets you more involved. By the time you’re done, you’re already ready to do another. It’s a really good way to get people more involved.”
