Ethics Club to meet Thursday

The Ethics Club, which deals with corporate behavior, will hold its first meeting Thursday.

“It’s where you evaluate business decisions from an ethical perspective,” said social studies teacher Bob Sarver, who has been in charge of the club for four years.

The club participates a districtwide competition, and the Florida Institute of Technology’s business school sends a packet of scenarios, such as the right for women to file sexual harassment suits, to each competing school for discussion.

“I think it’s extremely worthwhile. It’s a really good vehicle for students to grow and apply knowledge they supposedly learned,” said Sarver, who added that the discussions strive for a balance between efficiency and morality.

“Business reflects the people that are in it, and the values that those people have,” Sarver said.
