The Purrfections dance team will celebrate Labor Day by hosting a car wash at Doubles Hoagies in Indian Harbour Beach on from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday. The event is part of a campaign to raise money for new uniforms and pay for competition fees.
“We need to raise approximately $1,300 in order to meet our goal,” Coach April Shaw said. “Unless there’s a miracle, we are going to have more fund-raisers besides the car wash.”
The dance team is not funded by the Florida High School Athletic Association, which means it receives no funding from the school board.
Said sophomore Erin Sheridan: “We have fun at our car washes, but we want those new uniforms so bad and we won’t stop until we get the money we need.”
