COVID-19 forces change for orchestra
November 16, 2020
Orchestra students and teachers are forced to change the everyday routine of sharing stands and instruments in the class because of COVID-19.
Usually students would borrow a school instrument to use in class but leave it overnight. Students would also share stands with a partner. But the way of sharing has changed according to Suhina M.(8).
“Everyone has to bring their own music stands,” she said. “Students who don’t own instruments can still rent but the instrument is sanitized before given and before return. Also, every student gets their own music that they keep in their own folder.”
Staying clean and safe from COVID-19 has also become a change to the daily routine.
“Students get an air refresh every day, where we go outside for 10 minutes,” Eliza H.(8) said. “Everyone in class wears masks the whole time, and we use hand sanitizer before walking into the classroom.”
