Students look forward to summer break

As the school year comes to a close, many students look forward to their upcoming plans and vacation getaways. May 24 will be the last day of school. Whether students plan to backpack in Europe or sunbathe on the beaches of a sunny resort, summer break is highly anticipated. Freshman Eleanor Alderman will go on a cruise to the Bahamas.

“I’ve never been on this cruise before, so I’m really excited to see what it’s like, and I love the beach,” she said. “I’m also going to North Carolina for soccer with my teammates, and hopefully it will be fun and we can make a lot of memories.”

Freshman Zoey DiOrio will visit Cyprus.

“I am looking forward to seeing all my family in Cyprus,” she said. “All of my mom’s side lives there, including my grandparents and all my cousins. I’m excited to go see all the sunrises, which we do with my yaya, [my grandmother], every morning, and go to the beautiful beaches like Ayai Napa too. I’m also excited to eat Greek food and go to the village my yaya was born in, which we do every Sunday we are there. I’m looking forward to seeing my godmother who lives in Limassol, and we always go have a big Souvlaki dinner together.”

Freshman Luna Stieber said she is awaiting her vacation to Europe, where she can enjoy new experiences and try new things.

“In the beginning of summer I’m going to Germany, which I’m not super excited about because I grew up there and there’s not much I haven’t seen or done,” she said. “It is nice to see my family and friends. We are going to stay in Florence for a week, and we don’t really have any specific plans, but I can’t wait to see what we will end up doing. At the end of our trip, we are going to either the Netherlands or Austria. My pick is the Netherlands because I went there last summer and it was super fun and cool to see everything.”

Sophomore Grace Mannix will spend her time off school with friends and family and going on adventures.

“This summer, I’m going on a cruise with like 40 people for my grandma’s 70th birthday,” she said. “I’m also going to Homasassa to go scalloping with my family. I’m looking forward to it because a lot of people I’ve talked to have said it’s a lot of fun.”
