Spotify Wrapped is an annual feature by Spotify that provides users with a personalized summary of their music tastes, highlighting their most-played songs, favorite artists and overall listening trends over the past year. It often includes a custom playlist showcasing the user’s top tracks for a nostalgic musical review. This year’s Spotify Wrapped was released to users Nov. 29. 

“My top five artists are Destroy Lonely, beabadoobee, Ken Carson, Future, and Playboi Carti,” sophomore Drew Newlin said. “I really enjoy them, and they help me get pumped up before my [basketball] games. I was hoping to see some of the new artists that I have been recently listening to, so I was a little disappointed.”

Sophomore Ehab El-Ahmad said he was surprised by the results.

“Seeing Juice WRLD at No. 4 was truly moving,” he said. “Even though he has passed, I will never forget him. He was my No. 1 last year, but this year he moved down, which is a little sad.”

El-Ahmad has been using Spotify for four years.

“I’m really glad they implemented Spotify Wrapped,” El-Ahmad said. “It sort of gives users something to look forward to, which is fun for us and a great marketing tool.”
