Christmas fashion: couture or catastrophe?

In the halls during the month of December, you will see students sporting everything from festive socks to odd sweaters to reindeer ears. Some students go all out and dress to the holiday they celebrate, while others like to show their holiday spirit in other ways.

“I love holiday clothing,” sophomore Ashley Peters said. “Especially when its really cheesy. For example, ugly Christmas sweaters are the best.”

Junior Gianni Valenti disagrees.

“Although it’s important to dress to the season, holiday themed outfits can go bad really quickly,” he said. “But I still do it to be ironic.”

Along with Valenti, freshman Ishaan Jathal doesn’t think it’s necessary.

“I don’t dress to the holiday because I think it’s a waste of time and money,” Jathal said.

Christmas clothing is the majority of what you see, but sophomore Macie Goldfarb likes to wear Hanukkah-themed apparel.

“On the last day of school before Winter Break, I’m going to be wearing my Hanukkah socks,” Goldfarb said. “I like to show them off because you normally don’t see anything besides Christmas stuff.”
