Junior Michelle Chin earned a $150,000 full academic scholarship to Drexel University at the 2012 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair held in Pittsburgh last week. The fair is the world’s largest high-school science research competition, bringing together more than 1,500 students from more than 70 countries, regions and territories to compete for scholarships, tuition grants, internships, scientific trips and prizes.

Other winners from Brevard county were Palm Bay High School’s Zen Campbell, Dalton Stanley and Spencer Tuttle, who placed third in the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Category, Satellite High’s Sarah Van Sickle,  who placed fourth in the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Category; Satellite High’s Jacob Kimmel, who placed fourth in the Cellular and Molecular Biology Category; and Melbourne High’s Emily Seitz, who placed fourth in the  Animal Sciences Category. Third-place winners received $1,000 and fourth-place winners took home $500.

ISEF was founded in 1950 by Science Service. Intel is the title sponsor of this prestigious, international competition.
