Cheerleaders prepare for FIT exhibition

While the school’s cheer team usually does not compete, both the varsity and junior varsity squads will participate in a exhibition at the Florida Institute of Technology on Sunday. The exhibition will showcase different schools and competition teams from the area. Junior Kristina Manning is hyped for the rare opportunity to see other squads.

“I like seeing the Extreme Competition cheerleaders because they have some crazy stunts I have never seen before,” Manning said.

This will be the cheerleaders’ second time participating in this event and they will perform two different routines, one varsity dance and a never-before-seen combined dance with both squads. The opportunity to take the stage with other cheer teams is something new for most members of the squad, which usually performs at basketball games.

“At FIT we get to see what the competition atmosphere is like,” junior Vincent Guglietta said. “It’s a great chance to stunt, tumble and hang out with good people.”

The event starts at 12:30 p.m. and will take place in Clemente Center Gymnasium.
