’Cats lose cool to Apopka High School

The third time was not a charm for West Shore which lost to Apopka High School in  Orlando’s WOFL Fox 35 “Cool School of the Week” contest. The online voting opened Wednesday and closed today at 8 a.m. West Shore won the weekly contest in 2010 and 2011.

“I’m enraged because they didn’t make it as big of a deal [as last year]. They didn’t really tell anyone about it,” sophomore Shaun Wilson said.

Schools were be nominated by Fox 35 or by students. When a school wins, Fox sends a reporter to the campus to do a short segment on the school for its morning newscast. During last year’s contest, West Shore received the Cool School honor after registering 1,939 votes, 41 percent of the total. Zenith Career Center was the closest competition with 1,674 votes, at 35 percent.
