Carnation sale raises $50 for March of Dimes

Key Club embraced the spirit of Valentine’s Day and sold all 200 carnations it ordered for Tuesday’s fund-raiser. The proceeds went to March of Dimes, an association devoted to improving the health of babies. The flowers were sold in the cafeteria during lunch in the week prior to the holiday.

“I’m so proud of the sales,” club sponsor Sabrina Nobili said. “Getting the word out through Facebook really helped us raise more money.”

A total of $200 was raised through the sales. Fifty dollars will go to March of Dimes while the rest was spent to pay for the carnations, which the club purchased for 75 cents each.

“We sold every carnation we had, so the fundraiser was a huge success,” senior Nick De La Hoz said.

The flowers were distributed to the students at lunch on Valentine’s Day.

“It was fun to see the looks on peoples’ faces when we handed them out,” sophomore Jenna Winter said. “Lots of people were pleasantly surprised.”
