Senior Nick Burgess has officially signed to play soccer at University of North Florida next season. UNF is a Division 1 school and ranks in the top 50 in the nation.

“It is just one more step in the journey,” Burgess said. “I just hope it is not the last one”

Burgess attributes much of his exposure to college coaches to the Olympic Development Program. He also has played for the regional ODP team multiple times.

Sophomore soccer player Collin Robidoux wished Burgess well.

“I was not surprised when I heard Nick signed for a Division one school,” Robidoux said. “He is a phenomenal player and he makes my job as a left back way easier. ”

Burgess, who is team captain, will be leading the Wildcats to the Class 2A regional finals Tuesday at 7 p.m at West Shore against The Villages. The winner will advance to the state semifinals against either Tallahassee Florida High or Jacksonville Bishop Kenny. Admission for Tuesday’s game is $7.
