Boys’ tennis trumps Vipers
Senior Kha Duong led the boys’ tennis team to a 7-0 victory against the Space Coast Vipers on Wednesday evening. Duong won his singles match 6-0, 6-1 at line 1, as well as his doubles match 8-1.
The team employed a different lineup than usual to allow new players the opportunity to get experience on the court. Along with Duong, the lineup consisted of eighth-grader Bi H., sophomore John Shi, freshman Phi Duong, and seventh-grader Kishen M. instead of the traditionally mostly upperclassmen line up.
Head coach Rick Boysen was planning on the match to be a productive one for the team.
“It was a great opportunity for senior and captain Kha Duong,” Boysen said. “He got to travel to an away match, get some of the younger players exposed to more serious match play, and secure us a solid victory.”
Duong was satisfied with the experience and results overall.
“It was a good win for us,” Duong said. “We had younger players in this match and they handled being in the top five really well.”
The next boys’ match will be against Satellite High School at the DeSoto tennis courts on Thursday.
