Boys’ soccer opens with a 2-1 victory

The boys’ soccer team defeated Sebastian River High School 2-1 in its first match of the season.

“It was really good. We played some really good defense and we stuck it out for the win,” sophomore Michael Murren said. “Sam [Leighton] scored to win the game and that was pretty raw.”

After Sebastian scoring the first goal of the game, junior Robert Madden soon scored a long shot, hanging the keeper. Leighton, a sophomore, then scored the second goal with a header in front of the goal.

The team next plays Monday at home against Monte Verde. The varsity game starts at 7 p.m.
