Freshman Grant Fontaine score the Wildcats’ only goal as Sebestian River defeated West Shore 12-1 in the season’s home-opener Thursday. The game also marked the first time West Shore competed as a varsity team.
“They played really good, and I hope we can play them again so we can learn more from them,” sophomore Jack Moore said. “It seemed that they knew all the rules and they played a good clean game.”
Coming off last season when the team competed only as a club, the Wildcats are still trying to build some chemistry.
“I think we played really good defense, but we still need to settle the ball down more,” sophomore Ryan Bellone said. “I think we’ll get better after a couple more practices.”
The team will play again Saturday at home against Wekiva High School at 11 a.m.
