Boys’ lacrosse falls to Merritt Island
Senior Chris Melchori scored two goals but they weren’t nearly enough as the boys’ lacrosse team fell to Merritt Island 16-2 Friday. Junior goalie Will Lemstrom had 14 saves.
In the beginning of the game, West Shore had the edge but soon lost it due to careless mistakes on and off the ball.
“We didn’t play an all-round bad game, but we needed to communicate better on defense and take more shots when the opportunity to shoot was there,” sophomore David Thompson said.
The team sees the loss opportunity to practice and get better for future games.
“I feel that we need to work on our communication and slides,” Thompson said. “We also need to work on changing our sets smoother on attack. These are not huge things we need to worry about, so with a little practice we should be able to step our game up for bigger competitions.”
The next game is Wednesday at Edgewood Jr./Sr. on Merritt Island.
