Boys’ JV basketball loses final home game

The boys’ JV basketball team fell to John Carroll Catholic High School 68-28 Monday.

“In the beginning of the game I wasn’t in the right state of mind and it reflected in the game, but towards the end I locked in and played well,” freshman Drew Newlin said.

Teammate Trey Hatter, a sophomore, added that the team “played with heart.”

“We just need to work on playing as hard as we can,” he said. “I think as a team we played very well despite our loss.”

Newlin is trying to alter his mindset going forward.

“I plan on focusing less on my mistakes during the game and working to prevent them after the game,” he said. “My defense was weak on Monday’s game and I need to fix that.”

Tonight’s away game at Edgewood starts at 5:30 p.m.

“I think the team performed well against JCCHS, however I believe we could have played better if we controlled and utilized the pace of the game better, which we will try to do tonight,” Newlin said.
